Char Dham Yatra
A sacred pilgrimage through the four holy shrines of Uttarakhand in the mighty Himalayas
Departure Amsterdam – Delhi
Today you depart from Amsterdam with your booked flight from Amsterdam to Delhi. On the day of departure, you should check in at Schiphol Airport at least 4 hours before your international flight from Amsterdam to Delhi. For current departure, arrival times, and check-in counter information, you can consult the digital screens of Schiphol in the departure halls.
Arrival Delhi
In the early morning upon arrival in the capital New Delhi, you will be met by your private chauffeur at Indira Gandhi International Airport and taken to your hotel accommodation. The rest of the day you have free to spend and arrange entirely as you wish.
Luxury Train Journey Delhi – Haridwar (210 km / 5 hours)
In the early morning, you will be picked up and taken to the train station for your luxury train journey to Haridwar, beginning the Char Dham Yatra with a visit to Haridwar. Upon arrival in Haridwar, you will be picked up from the train station and taken to your hotel accommodation with the rest of the day free. In the early evening, you will be picked up at your hotel for the sacred Ganga Aarti, a breathtaking and spiritual spectacle that you should not miss. After the Ganga Aarti at Har-Ki-Pauri, you will be taken back to your hotel.
Road Trip Haridwar – Barkot (205 km / 6 hours)
In the early morning after breakfast, you leave the spiritual city of Haridwar and continue towards Barkot. Upon arrival in Barkot, you will be taken to your hotel accommodation and have the rest of the day free.
🕉️ Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (42 km + 5 km trek)
In the early morning (4:00 AM) you will be picked up from your hotel and drive approximately 42 km to Jankichatti, from where you make a trek of approximately 5 km (the 5 km trek can be done on foot or you can hire a doli or pack animal for a fee). Upon arrival in Yamunotri, the first Dham, it is customary to take a bath in the warm water of Divyashila and then visit the mandir for darshan and pooja (bring clean clothes and a towel). After darshan in the mandir, it is customary to cook a handful of rice grains wrapped in a clean cloth in the warm water of the hot kund and take it as prasad. This is followed by another 5 km trek to Jankichatti and from there a 42 km road trip to Barkot, where you will be dropped off at the hotel for your overnight stay.
Road Trip Barkot – Uttarkashi (95 km / 4 hours)
In the morning after breakfast (9:00 AM) you depart towards Uttarkashi. Along the way, you have the opportunity to visit the Prakateswar Mahadev cave, where there is a naturally formed shiva linga made of limestone. Upon arrival in Uttarkashi, you will be taken to your hotel accommodation and in the early evening picked up for a visit to the well-known Kashi Vishwanath mandir for the serene evening aarti. If time permits, an evening walk will be made along the banks of the sacred Bhagirathi (not to be confused with Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi). After darshan, you will be taken back to your hotel for a delicious dinner and a good night's rest.
🕉️ Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 km / 4 hours)
After a relaxing night's rest and an early breakfast, you depart for the second Dham, Gangotri. Along the way, enjoy the picturesque landscapes and snow-covered mountains, where you can take a purifying bath in the sacred Ganges. Upon arrival in Gangotri, you visit the Gangotri temple, the most sacred place dedicated to the goddess Ganga. If time permits, visit Suryakund waterfall and Tapovan Art Gallery. After the visit, you travel back through the serene Harsil valley to Uttarkashi for your dinner and overnight stay.
Road Trip Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (200 km / 8 hours)
In the early morning after breakfast, you continue the spiritual journey to Guptkashi. Upon arrival in Guptkashi, you will be taken to your hotel and after a short rest, you visit the Kashi-Vishwanath mandir in Guptkashi. After visiting the mandir, you will be taken back to your hotel accommodation and have the rest of the evening free to enjoy the peace that this pilgrimage site radiates.
🕉️ Guptkashi – Sonprayag (30 km) → Kedarnath (18 km trek)
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, your tour to Kedarnath begins. You travel 30 km from Guptkashi to Sonprayag and take a shared jeep for 5 km from Sonprayag to reach Gaurikund. From Gaurikund begins an 18 km trek to Kedarnath. The path offers breathtaking views of the majestic peaks and flowing rivers. You can hire a pony or palanquin if needed (on direct payment basis). Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation. If time permits, visit the Kedarnath temple and attend the Kedarnath evening aarti, an unforgettable spiritual experience.
Kedarnath – Sonprayag (18 km) → Guptkashi (30 km)
In the early morning, you will be woken for sunrise and after bathing, you reach the temple at 4:45 AM to witness the Abhishek of Kedarnath jyotirlinga and morning Aarti. After darshan and puja, you leave the temple and return to your accommodation. After breakfast, the descent to Gaurikund begins. Along the way, breaks are taken and you enjoy the peace and serene beauty of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Gaurikund, you take a shared jeep to Sonprayag. Upon arrival in Sonprayag, you travel by local taxi for about 45 minutes to the Triyuginarayan temple complex, the place where the wedding of Shivji and Parvati Mata took place. Then you continue with private transfer to Guptkashi. After checking in, enjoy a delicious dinner.
🕉️ Guptkashi – Badrinath (170 km / 7 hours)
In the early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and drive to the fourth Dham of the Char Dham Yatra. Visit Pandukeshwar, an ancient village in Uttarakhand believed to have been founded by King Pandu of the Mahabharata and where the sacred Yog Dhyan Badri temple stands. Upon arrival in Badrinath, you will check in to your overnight accommodation. In the evening, you attend the evening aarti and darshan of Shri Badrinath mandir.
Badrinath – Rudraprayag (150 km / 6 hours)
In the early morning, you visit the Badrinath temple for the morning aarti. You visit Mana Village, the last village on the Indo-China border, Vyas Gufa and Ganesh Gufa, two important spiritual places in the village. After breakfast, you continue to Rudraprayag. Along the way, you take a break in Joshimath and visit the Narsingh temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu's Narsingh (half-lion, half-human) incarnation and serves as the winter residence for the idol of Badrinath. The journey passes Vishnuprayag, Karnaprayag, and Nandprayag, each known for the confluence of rivers. In the late afternoon, you reach Rudraprayag and after checking in, you can explore the small town on your own.
Rudraprayag – Dehradun (150 km / 6 hours) • Flight to Delhi
In the morning after breakfast, you travel to Dehradun airport for your domestic flight to New Delhi.
Departure: Dehradun 18:25 • Arrival: New Delhi 19:20
Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and taken to your hotel accommodation.
Delhi Temple Tour
Today after breakfast, you will be picked up and visit the most significant temples of the capital Delhi. You visit Akshar Dham temple, Laxmi Narayan Temple, the Lotus Temple, and the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara.
Return Trip New Delhi – Amsterdam
Full of new spiritual experiences and memories, you will be taken to Indira Gandhi International Airport approximately four hours before your flight departs for your international flight to Amsterdam.
